Legislative Breakfast event to inform about VA Vet Centers and celebrate Women Veterans Day 2024

May 29, 2024

The Riverside County Veterans’ Advisory Committee will host its next Legislative Breakfast event on Friday, June 14, 2024 @ 8 a.m. at American Legion Post 328.  The address is 3888 Old Hamner Rd, Norco, CA 92860.

This month’s veteran-related topic is “All About VA Vet Centers” by Travis Lidstrom, Outreach Specialist, VA Vet Center, Corona.  VA Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional counseling to eligible Veterans, service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Counseling is offered to make a successful transition from military to civilian life or after a traumatic event experienced in the military to include military sexual trauma (MST). Individual, group, marriage and family counseling is offered in addition to referral and connection to other VA or community benefits and services. Vet Center counselors and outreach staff, many of whom are Veterans themselves, are experienced and prepared to discuss the tragedies of war, loss, grief and transition after trauma.

Secondly, we will conduct a “Women Veterans Day 2024 Appreciation Ceremony”. Women Veterans will be recognized with certificates of appreciation from several organizations including the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Calling all Women Veterans:  Please register to be recognized at www.milvet.org/womenvet24.

*This event is open to the public.  On-site parking is free and breakfast refreshments will be provided at no cost.
