Fri, 31/05/2024 - 05:00
PERRIS, CA- From Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 14th, 2024 CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department, in cooperation with Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District, and Metropolitan Water District, will be conducting a vegetation management prescribed burn at Lake Skinner.
The project will benefit Riversidian sage scrub, grassland habitats, Parry's Spine Flower and also accomplishes the goal of rehabilitating burrowing owl habitat and mammal habitat for the LA Pocket Mouse, Stephens' Kangaroo Rat, and San Diego Black-Tailed Rabbit.
Drift smoke may be visible from nearby communities but will disperse quickly and is not expected to be a health hazard. Burning operations typically begin after 6:00 A.M. and conclude by 1:00 P.M. the same day. The burning dates are dictated by favorable weather conditions, and the burning operation will only occur on permissive burn days as determined by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).
