Emergency Siren Test in Idyllwild

Two firefighters spray a hose at a wildfire.

The Idyllwild Fire Protection District, Fern Valley Water District and Mountain Disaster Preparedness have partnered to bring Idyllwild and surrounding communities an emergency alerting siren.

The siren will be used in case of emergencies that may impact Idyllwild, Mountain Communities and visitors. The siren will be tested on the third Saturday of each month at 1 p.m. (1300 hours). The test siren will last ten seconds as compared to actual emergency usage, which will be denoted by three consecutive 30 second alerts. The first test will be conducted Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1 p.m.

When you hear the siren, please tune in to WNKI Emergency Radio at 1610 on your AM radio dial to receive information regarding the nature of the emergency and instructions on what to do.
